2
00:00:05,000 --> 00:00:06,000
australia

3
00:00:08,000 --> 00:00:09,976
i've not had much
fresh air lately so

4
00:00:10,000 --> 00:00:10,976
i'm going for a ride

5
00:00:11,000 --> 00:00:13,200
not in those you're
not today miss

6
00:00:14,000 --> 00:00:15,000

7
00:00:16,000 --> 00:00:17,976
good day mister
uh benjamin fraser

8
00:00:18,000 --> 00:00:18,976

00:00:21,000 --> 00:00:23,133
a book when she went out did you

11
00:00:25,000 --> 00:00:26,976
it's one rule for
you and one for the

12
00:00:27,000 --> 00:00:29,267
rest of us isn't
it that's not fair

13
00:00:30,000 --> 00:00:31,976
it's always the
same round here kids

14
00:00:32,000 --> 00:00:32,976
cake key

15
00:00:33,000 --> 00:00:35,600
my name is catherine
but you may call me

16
00:00:36,000 --> 00:00:37,000
kate

17
00:00:38,000 --> 00:00:39,976
you must have
another reason for what

18
00:00:40,000 --> 00:00:41,733
visit in england of course

19
00:00:45,000 --> 00:00:46,600
why the mystery kate

20
00:00:49,000 --> 00:00:51,267
he must be very
special this secret

21
00:00:52,000 --> 00:00:52,976
friend of yours

22
00:00:53,000 --> 00:00:54,440
oh he is mum he is

23
00:00:57,000 --> 00:00:58,976

sunday tea i'll give

24
00:00:59,000 --> 00:01:00,976

mystery the one server

25
00:01:01,000 --> 00:01:03,133
all right i'll ask
him i love you

26
00:01:05,000 --> 00:01:06,976
but it doesn't really
matter though does

27
00:01:07,000 --> 00:01:08,976
it not if you're going
back to america

28
00:01:09,000 --> 00:01:10,680
kate i bought a house

29
00:01:14,000 --> 00:01:16,400
you can't buy it
you can't what's the

30
00:01:17,000 --> 00:01:18,976
balance your mother
oh hear me out kate

31
00:01:19,000 --> 00:01:20,976
why because you
only know half the story

32
00:01:21,000 --> 00:01:21,976
is only right you
should know it all

33
00:01:22,000 --> 00:01:23,120
i've got to go

34
00:01:24,000 --> 00:01:26,600
the way my father
still feels if he ever

35
00:01:27,000 --> 00:01:28,976
found out that you
were martha banaman's

36
00:01:29,000 --> 00:01:29,001
son

37
00:01:29,000 --> 00:01:31,133
it never rest until
you were dead

38
00:01:47,000 --> 00:01:48,000
[Music]

39
00:02:06,000 --> 00:02:06,976
hello

40
00:02:07,000 --> 00:02:08,000
[Music]

41
00:02:30,000 --> 00:02:30,001
[Applause]

42
00:02:30,000 --> 00:02:31,000
[Music]

43
00:02:37,000 --> 00:02:37,976
you can always
tell when she's got

44
00:02:38,000 --> 00:02:39,680
something on her mind

45
00:02:41,000 --> 00:02:42,976
but it's a new
boyfriend oh what dad

46
00:02:43,000 --> 00:02:44,120
thinks of them

47
00:02:45,000 --> 00:02:47,400
kate will talk around
she always does

48
00:02:58,000 --> 00:02:59,000
thank you

49
00:03:05,000 --> 00:03:06,933
who's it fun give it a chance

50
00:03:08,000 --> 00:03:09,680
well go on then open it

51
00:03:18,000 --> 00:03:19,000
roddy

52
00:03:24,000 --> 00:03:25,976
they always have
the talent like must

53
00:03:26,000 --> 00:03:27,976
have a good imagination i know

54
00:03:28,000 --> 00:03:30,600
yeah if he can make
you look that pretty

55
00:03:32,000 --> 00:03:32,976
put it in the sitting
room kit save look

56
00:03:33,000 --> 00:03:34,680
at your two ugly mugs

57
00:03:35,000 --> 00:03:37,467
i'm sure ben would
like to see it when

58
00:03:38,000 --> 00:03:39,360
he comes to visit

59
00:03:40,000 --> 00:03:41,933
have you asked him yet no dad

60
00:03:49,000 --> 00:03:50,000
[Music]

61
00:03:52,000 --> 00:03:53,976
i thought i was never
going to see you

62
00:03:54,000 --> 00:03:56,000
again i didn't know what to do

63
00:03:57,000 --> 00:03:59,467
my mother and father
they want to meet

64
00:04:00,000 --> 00:04:00,976
you

65
00:04:01,000 --> 00:04:02,680
i think it's a great idea

66
00:04:04,000 --> 00:04:05,976
but what if they
find out who you are

67
00:04:06,000 --> 00:04:07,680
who's going to tell them

68
00:04:08,000 --> 00:04:09,976
anyway i'm no more
abandonment than

69
00:04:10,000 --> 00:04:11,976
you're a green bank
surely your dad will

70
00:04:12,000 --> 00:04:12,976
understand that

71
00:04:13,000 --> 00:04:15,600
i doubt it he still has
nightmares about

72
00:04:16,000 --> 00:04:16,976
what your mother did to him

73
00:04:17,000 --> 00:04:17,976
so you just keep
on lying i hope he

74
00:04:18,000 --> 00:04:20,533
doesn't find out
until i can think of a

75
00:04:21,000 --> 00:04:21,976
way to tell him yes

76
00:04:22,000 --> 00:04:24,200
but what if you
can't i don't know

77
00:04:26,000 --> 00:04:28,333
go to america no
we'd have no choice

78
00:04:30,000 --> 00:04:31,976
i couldn't do that
to them ben it'd

79
00:04:32,000 --> 00:04:33,440
break their hearts

80
00:04:40,000 --> 00:04:41,000
hello

81
00:04:42,000 --> 00:04:44,000
annie keep these cool will you

82
00:04:51,000 --> 00:04:52,680
where is he in the garden

83
00:04:59,000 --> 00:05:00,000
[Music]

84
00:05:08,000 --> 00:05:09,000
foreign

85
00:05:11,000 --> 00:05:12,000
[Music]

86
00:05:14,000 --> 00:05:15,520
mom what's going on

87
00:05:22,000 --> 00:05:23,440
what are you doing

88
00:05:25,000 --> 00:05:26,000
[Music]

89
00:05:37,000 --> 00:05:38,000
well

90
00:05:42,000 --> 00:05:43,680
better open the champagne

91
00:05:46,000 --> 00:05:47,680
oh we're getting married

92
00:05:50,000 --> 00:05:51,680
oh flurry i'm so pleased

93
00:05:54,000 --> 00:05:55,200
for both of you

94
00:05:56,000 --> 00:05:57,000
[Music]

95
00:06:00,000 --> 00:06:01,976
pity your fancy man's
missing this stuck

96
00:06:02,000 --> 00:06:03,200
up in the hills

97
00:06:04,000 --> 00:06:05,120
all on his own

98
00:06:06,000 --> 00:06:07,000
[Music]

99
00:06:08,000 --> 00:06:09,000
come on

100
00:06:20,000 --> 00:06:21,040
you all right

101
00:06:25,000 --> 00:06:26,976
whatever maggie
says you should know

102
00:06:27,000 --> 00:06:29,067
better than to take it to heart

103
00:06:30,000 --> 00:06:32,067
it's not maggie then what is it

104
00:06:34,000 --> 00:06:35,680
nothing i'm all right

105
00:06:38,000 --> 00:06:40,400
really i am we worry
about you that's

106
00:06:41,000 --> 00:06:41,976
all

107
00:06:42,000 --> 00:06:44,267
i know all we want
is for you to be

108
00:06:46,000 --> 00:06:47,000
happy

109
00:06:49,000 --> 00:06:51,400
ma'am you know i
love you both dearly

110
00:06:52,000 --> 00:06:53,000
don't you

111
00:06:55,000 --> 00:06:57,467
you're not thinking
of leaving are you

112
00:06:58,000 --> 00:06:59,976
you're not going to
your father in paris

113
00:07:00,000 --> 00:07:00,976
no

114
00:07:01,000 --> 00:07:02,440
of course not look

115
00:07:06,000 --> 00:07:07,680
it's nothing honestly

116
00:07:10,000 --> 00:07:11,680
i'm just tired good night

117
00:07:27,000 --> 00:07:28,000
[Music]

118
00:07:33,000 --> 00:07:33,976
[Music]

119
00:07:34,000 --> 00:07:36,467
what time is it 10
past money get down

120
00:07:38,000 --> 00:07:38,976
here now or we're
going without you

121
00:07:39,000 --> 00:07:39,976
ready

122
00:07:40,000 --> 00:07:42,533
it's more than that
safer i'm okay well

123
00:07:43,000 --> 00:07:43,976
you know what they
say don't you maggie

124
00:07:44,000 --> 00:07:45,976
if you can't say
something kind don't

125
00:07:46,000 --> 00:07:47,520
say anything at all

126
00:07:49,000 --> 00:07:50,680
okay he'll not like it

127
00:07:59,000 --> 00:08:01,467
i'm waiting for you
i'm not coming dad

128
00:08:03,000 --> 00:08:05,533
come on why i've
got other things to do

129
00:08:06,000 --> 00:08:07,040
with the time

130
00:08:12,000 --> 00:08:13,000
[Music]

131
00:08:23,000 --> 00:08:24,000
[Music]

132
00:08:38,000 --> 00:08:38,976
she always comes
with his own market

133
00:08:39,000 --> 00:08:40,976
debt you should
have laid the law down

134
00:08:41,000 --> 00:08:42,976
she's old enough
to know what she's

135
00:08:43,000 --> 00:08:43,001
doing

136
00:08:43,000 --> 00:08:44,000
[Music]

137
00:08:45,000 --> 00:08:46,976
which is more than
he said for some

138
00:08:47,000 --> 00:08:48,000
[Music]

139
00:08:49,000 --> 00:08:50,200
12 o'clock mine

140
00:08:54,000 --> 00:08:56,133
all right doc keep your shirt on

141
00:08:59,000 --> 00:09:00,976
when i'm with you
it's as if the rest of

142
00:09:01,000 --> 00:09:02,680
the world didn't exist

143
00:09:03,000 --> 00:09:04,976
the trouble is it
does sooner or later

144
00:09:05,000 --> 00:09:05,976
we'll have to face it

145
00:09:06,000 --> 00:09:08,600
you know every time
i come here i expect

146
00:09:09,000 --> 00:09:09,976
to find you've gone

147
00:09:10,000 --> 00:09:12,200
i'll never go
anywhere without you

148
00:09:16,000 --> 00:09:18,200
i love you ben i
love you too kate

149
00:09:21,000 --> 00:09:23,267
so benjamin's and
royston's doesn't

150
00:09:24,000 --> 00:09:25,680
matter a damn does it

151
00:09:26,000 --> 00:09:27,976
he's educated he's
well traveled and

152
00:09:28,000 --> 00:09:29,000
he's rich

153
00:09:30,000 --> 00:09:32,267
very rich you
sound like his lawyer

154
00:09:33,000 --> 00:09:33,976
i haven't known him
long but he's good

155
00:09:34,000 --> 00:09:36,200
company although
i get the feeling

156
00:09:37,000 --> 00:09:37,976
there's something
in his past that

157
00:09:38,000 --> 00:09:39,000
troubles him

158
00:09:40,000 --> 00:09:41,600
such as i'm not sure

159
00:09:43,000 --> 00:09:44,976
i don't think he's
committed a crime or

160
00:09:45,000 --> 00:09:46,800
anything unsavory like that

161
00:09:47,000 --> 00:09:48,976
well is all sorts of
crimes isn't allow

162
00:09:49,000 --> 00:09:50,680
i mean could be married

163
00:09:51,000 --> 00:09:52,976
i think it's unlikely
well that's just

164
00:09:53,000 --> 00:09:54,000
maybe but

165
00:09:55,000 --> 00:09:57,200
i mean america's
a long way off so

166
00:09:59,000 --> 00:10:01,267
we can't know for
sure can we no we

167
00:10:02,000 --> 00:10:03,000
can't

168
00:10:10,000 --> 00:10:11,976
they keep asking
ben i don't think we

169
00:10:12,000 --> 00:10:13,733
can put it off much longer

170
00:10:14,000 --> 00:10:15,976
what about sunday
sunday why not i've

171
00:10:16,000 --> 00:10:17,520
got nothing planned

172
00:10:19,000 --> 00:10:20,800
tea on sunday is then t-y-t

173
00:10:22,000 --> 00:10:23,976
tradition there's
nothing like a cup of

174
00:10:24,000 --> 00:10:24,976
tea and a slab of
annie's fruitcake to

175
00:10:25,000 --> 00:10:26,976
steady the nerves
my nerves won't need

176
00:10:27,000 --> 00:10:27,976
stadium

177
00:10:28,000 --> 00:10:29,933
ben no top of watkins promise

178
00:10:31,000 --> 00:10:33,600
do i look stupid now
you come to mention

179
00:10:34,000 --> 00:10:34,976
it

180
00:10:35,000 --> 00:10:35,976
come here

181
00:10:36,000 --> 00:10:37,000
[Music]

182
00:10:40,000 --> 00:10:41,976
well it's three o'clock
where is he it's

183
00:10:42,000 --> 00:10:43,000
only ten two

184
00:10:44,000 --> 00:10:46,067
where's she waiting at the gate

185
00:10:50,000 --> 00:10:51,000
thanks

186
00:10:55,000 --> 00:10:56,976
so how's it going
in there how do you

187
00:10:57,000 --> 00:10:58,976
think let's do it
before i change my

188
00:10:59,000 --> 00:11:00,000
mind come on

189
00:11:09,000 --> 00:11:11,467
what's it like in
virginia mr hamilton

190
00:11:12,000 --> 00:11:12,976
have you ever fought the indians

191
00:11:13,000 --> 00:11:15,400
no no that only
happens out west have

192
00:11:16,000 --> 00:11:16,976
you been there

193
00:11:17,000 --> 00:11:19,133
no no i've got a strong sense of

194
00:11:20,000 --> 00:11:20,976
self-preservation

195
00:11:21,000 --> 00:11:22,976
which i guess is
just a fancy way of

196
00:11:23,000 --> 00:11:24,520
saying i'm a coward

197
00:11:27,000 --> 00:11:29,267
so why did you
come to england well

198
00:11:30,000 --> 00:11:30,976
after my grandfather died i lost

199
00:11:31,000 --> 00:11:32,976
interest in the
coachmaking business

200
00:11:33,000 --> 00:11:34,976
so i decided to do
some traveling before

201
00:11:35,000 --> 00:11:36,933
i settled down to another job

202
00:11:37,000 --> 00:11:39,400
i'm kind of choked
well no farmer sir

203
00:11:41,000 --> 00:11:41,976
that's for sure and uh

204
00:11:42,000 --> 00:11:42,976
don't have a mind
for the law of the

205
00:11:43,000 --> 00:11:44,976
stomach for the
doctoring so i'm gonna

206
00:11:45,000 --> 00:11:46,680
try my hand at writing

207
00:11:58,000 --> 00:11:59,976
my linden hill seems
a phony place for a

208
00:12:00,000 --> 00:12:01,680
man like you to cast hope

209
00:12:02,000 --> 00:12:04,133
not really i needed
some place to

210
00:12:06,000 --> 00:12:07,976
work things out on
my own for a while if

211
00:12:08,000 --> 00:12:09,600
you know what i mean

212
00:12:14,000 --> 00:12:15,976
kate says you've
been looking into your

213
00:12:16,000 --> 00:12:17,976
grandmother's
family that's right

214
00:12:18,000 --> 00:12:20,467
fountains has this
got something to do

215
00:12:21,000 --> 00:12:22,976
with you trying
to work things out

216
00:12:23,000 --> 00:12:25,133
dad it's all right
kate yes sir i

217
00:12:26,000 --> 00:12:27,120
believe it has

218
00:12:36,000 --> 00:12:36,976
it was only a few
months ago that kid

219
00:12:37,000 --> 00:12:38,933
had an unfortunate experience

220
00:12:39,000 --> 00:12:40,976
if you're talking
about harry baker i

221
00:12:41,000 --> 00:12:41,976
understand your concern sir

222
00:12:42,000 --> 00:12:43,976
do you know what
must have been an awful

223
00:12:44,000 --> 00:12:45,000
shock for

224
00:12:46,000 --> 00:12:48,600
some men would take
advantage of that hi

225
00:12:49,000 --> 00:12:50,000
so mood

226
00:12:51,000 --> 00:12:53,533
i really care for
kate the last thing i

227
00:12:54,000 --> 00:12:56,133
would ever want
to do is hurt her

228
00:12:58,000 --> 00:12:59,976
and if you're worried
about me living in

229
00:13:00,000 --> 00:13:00,976
a shepherd's hut
you can talk to my

230
00:13:01,000 --> 00:13:02,000
bankers

231
00:13:03,000 --> 00:13:03,976
well i won't pretend
that money isn't

232
00:13:04,000 --> 00:13:05,680
important because it is

233
00:13:06,000 --> 00:13:08,600
but then again it's
not everything is it

234
00:13:09,000 --> 00:13:10,733
glad we agree on something

235
00:13:15,000 --> 00:13:16,976
if you put your
mind to rest i'm not

236
00:13:17,000 --> 00:13:18,976
married as far
as i know i haven't

237
00:13:19,000 --> 00:13:19,976
broken any

238
00:13:20,000 --> 00:13:21,976
laws neither side
of the atlantic well

239
00:13:22,000 --> 00:13:22,976
that just leaves
what you're running

240
00:13:23,000 --> 00:13:24,600
away from doesn't it

241
00:13:25,000 --> 00:13:26,976
what it is you're
trying to work out up

242
00:13:27,000 --> 00:13:28,600
there on linden hill

243
00:13:30,000 --> 00:13:32,400
back home found
out some things about

244
00:13:34,000 --> 00:13:34,976
my family that
i'm not particularly

245
00:13:35,000 --> 00:13:36,000
proud of

246
00:13:38,000 --> 00:13:40,600
it happened a long
time ago before i was

247
00:13:46,000 --> 00:13:46,976
[Applause]

248
00:13:47,000 --> 00:13:49,267
how born it go it
was better than i

249
00:13:50,000 --> 00:13:51,000
expected

250
00:13:52,000 --> 00:13:53,976
i know how important
you are to him now

251
00:13:54,000 --> 00:13:56,267
and i told him how
i feel about you

252
00:13:58,000 --> 00:13:59,976
so how was that
then as if you didn't

253
00:14:00,000 --> 00:14:01,000
know

254
00:14:03,000 --> 00:14:04,000
[Music]

255
00:14:19,000 --> 00:14:21,600
i shouldn't be here
what if someone sees

256
00:14:22,000 --> 00:14:22,976
us

257
00:14:23,000 --> 00:14:23,976
what if one of the builders said

258
00:14:24,000 --> 00:14:25,976
something take it
easy we're not doing

259
00:14:26,000 --> 00:14:26,976
anything wrong

260
00:14:27,000 --> 00:14:28,976
try telling my dad
that he's always

261
00:14:29,000 --> 00:14:30,976
forbidden us to come
anywhere near the

262
00:14:31,000 --> 00:14:32,680
place it's only a house

263
00:14:33,000 --> 00:14:34,867
not to my dad so many ghosts

264
00:14:36,000 --> 00:14:38,533
make a wonderful
family home kate maybe

265
00:14:39,000 --> 00:14:39,976
it would

266
00:14:40,000 --> 00:14:40,976
i've just been here
since i shivered

267
00:14:41,000 --> 00:14:42,120
down the spine

268
00:14:45,000 --> 00:14:46,976
you know what i
heard today now what

269
00:14:47,000 --> 00:14:48,933
about you're going to tell us

270
00:14:49,000 --> 00:14:51,267
there's builders
at rookland's farm

271
00:14:53,000 --> 00:14:55,000
isn't that right gabriel muggy

272
00:15:00,000 --> 00:15:01,600
is that true gabriel

273
00:15:08,000 --> 00:15:10,467
yes dad terry saw
the money's way back

274
00:15:11,000 --> 00:15:12,680
from malin b yesterday

275
00:15:13,000 --> 00:15:14,976
and builders can
only mean one thing

276
00:15:15,000 --> 00:15:16,000
can't they

277
00:15:18,000 --> 00:15:19,000
how sit down

278
00:15:27,000 --> 00:15:28,976
maybe harry baker
got home so i can made

279
00:15:29,000 --> 00:15:31,400
a down payment
with that's 200 pounds

280
00:15:33,000 --> 00:15:34,976
it's all right glory
i'm very grateful

281
00:15:35,000 --> 00:15:35,976
to harry

282
00:15:36,000 --> 00:15:38,333
so does that mean
you are spoken for

283
00:15:39,000 --> 00:15:40,976
john ryson is for
me knowing you to

284
00:15:41,000 --> 00:15:42,000
think about

285
00:15:48,000 --> 00:15:50,400
it's not the damned
house so it's ben

286
00:15:53,000 --> 00:15:54,976
so far above anybody
else she's likely

287
00:15:55,000 --> 00:15:56,520
to meet around here

288
00:15:57,000 --> 00:15:58,680
it's good company rich

289
00:16:01,000 --> 00:16:02,800
and kid obviously wants him

290
00:16:05,000 --> 00:16:06,976
i want to see her
settled as much as you

291
00:16:07,000 --> 00:16:07,976
do are you sure

292
00:16:08,000 --> 00:16:10,533
i'm not an idiot you
know i know kate's

293
00:16:11,000 --> 00:16:12,867
gonna make a life of her own

294
00:16:13,000 --> 00:16:14,976
there's something
about him that just

295
00:16:15,000 --> 00:16:16,360
doesn't sit right

296
00:16:24,000 --> 00:16:24,976
gloria says you've made quite an

297
00:16:25,000 --> 00:16:26,976
impression over it
morgan oh did her dad

298
00:16:27,000 --> 00:16:27,976
say that too

299
00:16:28,000 --> 00:16:29,976
don't worry about
how his box worse than

300
00:16:30,000 --> 00:16:31,976
his bike i'll remember
that the next

301
00:16:32,000 --> 00:16:32,976
time i feel his teeth in my neck

302
00:16:33,000 --> 00:16:35,400
charles hello andrew
how are you fine

303
00:16:36,000 --> 00:16:36,001
fine

304
00:16:36,000 --> 00:16:37,976
hello again did you
know each other i

305
00:16:38,000 --> 00:16:39,800
needed a solicitor recently

306
00:16:40,000 --> 00:16:42,600
oh nothing sin is the
charge i helped mr

307
00:16:43,000 --> 00:16:43,976
hamilton with a
routine legal matter

308
00:16:44,000 --> 00:16:44,976
that's all

309
00:16:45,000 --> 00:16:46,976
sorry splashing
out and talks for the

310
00:16:47,000 --> 00:16:48,976
ball ah the event
of the year will we

311
00:16:49,000 --> 00:16:49,976
see you there mr bolton

312
00:16:50,000 --> 00:16:52,133
we wouldn't miss
it for the world

313
00:16:53,000 --> 00:16:54,000
[Music]

314
00:16:56,000 --> 00:16:58,200
come on you lot
get a move on well

315
00:16:59,000 --> 00:16:59,976
they'll go without this

316
00:17:00,000 --> 00:17:00,976
maybe we could go
to the drove his arms

317
00:17:01,000 --> 00:17:02,976
instead yeah yeah
and miss meeting all

318
00:17:03,000 --> 00:17:05,333
those unattached
wealthy young women

319
00:17:06,000 --> 00:17:06,976
you'll never forgive
yourselves and i'll

320
00:17:07,000 --> 00:17:08,976
never forgive either
of you so much to

321
00:17:09,000 --> 00:17:10,976
speak one word to us all evening

322
00:17:11,000 --> 00:17:11,976
sounds like our
maggie's building

323
00:17:12,000 --> 00:17:13,680
herself off for the hunt

324
00:17:19,000 --> 00:17:20,000
[Music]

325
00:17:25,000 --> 00:17:26,000
[Music]

326

[Applause]

327
00:17:30,000 --> 00:17:31,000
so

328
00:17:34,000 --> 00:17:35,000
[Music]

329
00:17:39,000 --> 00:17:40,976

this man i know holly

330
00:17:41,000 --> 00:17:41,976
yourself gabriel

331
00:17:42,000 --> 00:17:44,533
they're just the
same as us only richer

332
00:17:46,000 --> 00:17:48,533
well maybe not the
same as your gabriel

333
00:18:00,000 --> 00:18:01,000
[Music]

334
00:18:06,000 --> 00:18:07,976
stick with me brother
learn a thing or

335
00:18:08,000 --> 00:18:09,000

336
00:18:12,000 --> 00:18:14,600
isn't that andrew
baldwin where with the

337
00:18:15,000 --> 00:18:15,976
sherwoods

338
00:18:16,000 --> 00:18:18,333
yes it probably is
that reminds me i

339
00:18:19,000 --> 00:18:19,976
need to speak to sherwood about

340
00:18:20,000 --> 00:18:21,120
her dressmaker

341
00:18:24,000 --> 00:18:24,976
maggie's had her
eye on andrew for as

342
00:18:25,000 --> 00:18:27,467
long as i can remember
i'm a lucky man

343
00:18:28,000 --> 00:18:30,333
off you cool enjoy
yourselves that's

344
00:18:31,000 --> 00:18:31,976

345
00:18:32,000 --> 00:18:33,976
now would you like
to meet my aunts and

346
00:18:34,000 --> 00:18:34,976
uncle

347
00:18:35,000 --> 00:18:37,533
later like i need
a drink first in that

348
00:18:38,000 --> 00:18:39,976
case it's time to
show you off miss

349
00:18:40,000 --> 00:18:41,976
charles bentley i'm
not your prized cow

350
00:18:42,000 --> 00:18:43,520
you tell him florey

351
00:18:44,000 --> 00:18:45,000
moo

352
00:18:48,000 --> 00:18:49,680
uh they're well matched i

353
00:18:52,000 --> 00:18:53,000
they are

354
00:18:56,000 --> 00:18:57,680
not as well as those two

355
00:19:19,000 --> 00:19:21,533
well it's a pity
there's no decent beer

356
00:19:24,000 --> 00:19:24,976
but i reckon i'm
about ready for his

357
00:19:25,000 --> 00:19:25,976
large ship

358
00:19:26,000 --> 00:19:28,200
no i wouldn't at
the moment anyway

359
00:19:31,000 --> 00:19:32,600
oh well in that case

360
00:19:35,000 --> 00:19:36,000

00:20:01,000 --> 00:20:03,400
to get him up on
his feet for years i

371
00:20:04,000 --> 00:20:05,200
never succeeded

372
00:20:06,000 --> 00:20:08,200
so either his
brain's finally gone

373
00:20:09,000 --> 00:20:10,680
soft he's up to something

374
00:20:13,000 --> 00:20:15,533
i can guess how
you feel kid and he's a

375
00:20:16,000 --> 00:20:16,976
decent match but
we don't know much

376
00:20:17,000 --> 00:20:18,000
about him

377
00:20:19,000 --> 00:20:21,467
don't worry dad i
know all there is to

378
00:20:22,000 --> 00:20:23,000
know

379
00:20:26,000 --> 00:20:27,867
you really want to marry him

380
00:20:29,000 --> 00:20:31,067
more than anything in the world

381
00:20:36,000 --> 00:20:37,000
[Music]

382
00:20:47,000 --> 00:20:49,600
oh come on now i
want your mother to see

383
00:20:50,000 --> 00:20:52,400
your ball and i'll
get it in the neck

384
00:20:54,000 --> 00:20:55,000
[Music]

385
00:21:00,000 --> 00:21:01,000
blue

386
00:21:03,000 --> 00:21:04,000
[Music]

387
00:21:07,000 --> 00:21:09,000
time you and me had a word lad

388
00:21:10,000 --> 00:21:11,000
[Music]

389
00:21:13,000 --> 00:21:14,800
better not keep him waiting

390
00:21:16,000 --> 00:21:17,000
[Music]

391
00:21:23,000 --> 00:21:25,467
tell me how this
writing game works in

392
00:21:26,000 --> 00:21:26,976
well

393
00:21:27,000 --> 00:21:29,600
first you have an
idea and then you just

394
00:21:30,000 --> 00:21:32,333
shut yourself away
and start writing

395
00:21:35,000 --> 00:21:37,400
and that's all
there is to it sort of

396
00:21:39,000 --> 00:21:40,976
then what well if
you're lucky you find

397
00:21:41,000 --> 00:21:43,200
somebody to
publish it and what if

398
00:21:44,000 --> 00:21:45,280
you're not lucky

399
00:21:46,000 --> 00:21:47,976
you need to find a
patient or you start

400
00:21:48,000 --> 00:21:49,000
a patron

401
00:21:50,000 --> 00:21:51,976
it means some fool
with more money than

402
00:21:52,000 --> 00:21:53,976
sense and an
appetite for the finer

403
00:21:54,000 --> 00:21:55,520
things in life here

404
00:21:56,000 --> 00:21:57,000
huh

405
00:22:00,000 --> 00:22:02,067
sure but you're gonna live then

406
00:22:04,000 --> 00:22:05,867
in a house like anybody else

407
00:22:09,000 --> 00:22:10,976
so i don't have
to fret about you

408
00:22:11,000 --> 00:22:11,976
pugging your bags
and leaving our care

409
00:22:12,000 --> 00:22:12,976
for some rich woman
whose husband's

410
00:22:13,000 --> 00:22:14,680
always away in london

411
00:22:15,000 --> 00:22:16,600
no sure you wouldn't

412
00:22:31,000 --> 00:22:32,000
how

413
00:22:35,000 --> 00:22:36,976
he'd been gone so
long i thought you two

414
00:22:37,000 --> 00:22:38,976
had slipped off to
the drover's arms we

415
00:22:39,000 --> 00:22:40,680
had a lot to talk about

416
00:22:41,000 --> 00:22:42,000
and on what

417
00:22:45,000 --> 00:22:47,067
well ben please this isn't fair

418
00:22:49,000 --> 00:22:51,133
tell me what happened well we uh

419
00:22:52,000 --> 00:22:54,333
talked about writing
for a while and

420
00:22:56,000 --> 00:22:58,400
then he said if i
wanted to marry you

421
00:23:02,000 --> 00:23:03,800
you had no objection at all

422
00:23:14,000 --> 00:23:15,000
[Music]

423
00:23:16,000 --> 00:23:17,000
[Applause]

424
00:23:20,000 --> 00:23:21,000
uh

425
00:23:24,000 --> 00:23:24,976
your sister seems to have hooked

426
00:23:25,000 --> 00:23:26,976
langley's newest
landowner she's my

427
00:23:27,000 --> 00:23:28,976
half-sister and i've
no idea what you

428
00:23:29,000 --> 00:23:29,976
mean

429
00:23:30,000 --> 00:23:31,976
i mean ben hamilton
the new owner of

430
00:23:32,000 --> 00:23:32,976
rookland's farm

431
00:23:33,000 --> 00:23:34,360
mr bolton evening

432
00:23:37,000 --> 00:23:38,976
yes seems he has
some family connection

433
00:23:39,000 --> 00:23:39,976
with the place

434
00:23:40,000 --> 00:23:41,976
he boarded three
weeks ago i arranged

435
00:23:42,000 --> 00:23:42,976
the sale

436
00:23:43,000 --> 00:23:45,600
i'm sorry i assumed
you knew of course i

437
00:23:46,000 --> 00:23:47,120
knew excuse me

438
00:23:57,000 --> 00:23:59,133
dad you're smuggy
what's going on

439
00:24:00,000 --> 00:24:02,533
ben's asked kate
to marry him it's that

440
00:24:03,000 --> 00:24:03,976
wonderful

441
00:24:04,000 --> 00:24:05,000
[Music]

442
00:24:09,000 --> 00:24:09,976
okay so if you're
going to sleep then

443
00:24:10,000 --> 00:24:11,976
i'll write as far
as lyndon hill with

444
00:24:12,000 --> 00:24:12,001
you

445
00:24:12,000 --> 00:24:13,976
no sorry maggie
i'm meeting him in

446
00:24:14,000 --> 00:24:15,200
heckson oh well

447
00:24:16,000 --> 00:24:18,067
another time terry get my horse

448
00:24:19,000 --> 00:24:20,680
and be quick about it

449
00:24:38,000 --> 00:24:39,000
[Music]

450
00:24:42,000 --> 00:24:43,976
sorry i can't help
myself come on i want

451
00:24:44,000 --> 00:24:45,440
to show you inside

452
00:24:46,000 --> 00:24:46,976
and while you look
the place over i want

453
00:24:47,000 --> 00:24:47,976
you to think about
how we could tell

454
00:24:48,000 --> 00:24:49,800
your father who i really am

455
00:24:50,000 --> 00:24:51,976
i have to and i felt
like an imposter

456
00:24:52,000 --> 00:24:52,976
last night

457
00:24:53,000 --> 00:24:54,976
it's as if i was asking
to marry you one

458
00:24:55,000 --> 00:24:56,440
of false pretenses

459
00:24:57,000 --> 00:24:58,976
you're right i know
you all no we can't

460
00:24:59,000 --> 00:25:00,680
keep a secret forever

461
00:25:01,000 --> 00:25:01,976
sooner or later
someone's going to find

462
00:25:02,000 --> 00:25:03,976
out about brooklyn's
and tell your dad

463
00:25:04,000 --> 00:25:04,976
if that happens i
doubt i'll ever get a

464
00:25:05,000 --> 00:25:06,680
chance to meet my case

465
00:25:14,000 --> 00:25:16,467
john where's dad
it's just in the yard

466
00:25:19,000 --> 00:25:21,067
bye you'll find out soon enough

467
00:25:22,000 --> 00:25:23,000
[Music]

468
00:25:26,000 --> 00:25:28,467
have you got a
minute dad what does it

469
00:25:29,000 --> 00:25:29,976
look like

470
00:25:30,000 --> 00:25:31,000
dad please

471
00:25:34,000 --> 00:25:36,533
mind yourself i was
gonna tell you last

472
00:25:37,000 --> 00:25:37,976
night but

473
00:25:38,000 --> 00:25:40,467
maggie it's important
really important

474
00:25:42,000 --> 00:25:43,000
[Music]

475
00:25:57,000 --> 00:25:58,000
[Applause]

476
00:25:59,000 --> 00:26:00,000
[Music]

477
00:26:02,000 --> 00:26:04,400
don't worry charles
tells me spark is

478
00:26:05,000 --> 00:26:06,520
worse than his bite

479
00:26:07,000 --> 00:26:08,000
come on

480
00:26:10,000 --> 00:26:11,000
[Music]

481
00:26:22,000 --> 00:26:23,000
so

482
00:26:24,000 --> 00:26:24,976
of god's sake i
was only telling the

483
00:26:25,000 --> 00:26:26,000
truth

484
00:26:27,000 --> 00:26:29,133
but why maggie why shouldn't her

485
00:26:30,000 --> 00:26:31,976
you set your sights
on him that first

486
00:26:32,000 --> 00:26:34,600
day in hexham didn't
don't be ridiculous

487
00:26:35,000 --> 00:26:35,976
and anyway what
you're always sticking

488
00:26:36,000 --> 00:26:37,976
up for her for she's
not even one of us

489
00:26:38,000 --> 00:26:38,001
is she

490
00:26:38,000 --> 00:26:39,976
if you ever say
anything like that again

491
00:26:40,000 --> 00:26:42,533
i will give you the
hiding of your life

492
00:26:49,000 --> 00:26:51,467
don't make excuses
she must have known

493
00:26:52,000 --> 00:26:53,976
it takes time to buy
a house you know

494
00:26:54,000 --> 00:26:55,976
this meetings with lawyers deeds

495
00:26:56,000 --> 00:26:58,133
there must be an
explanation he's

496
00:26:59,000 --> 00:26:59,976
selling our table

497
00:27:00,000 --> 00:27:01,976
and hoodwin a lot
of us with his jabber

498
00:27:02,000 --> 00:27:03,976
that's all the
explanation i need

499
00:27:04,000 --> 00:27:05,976
and what about
last night neither of

500
00:27:06,000 --> 00:27:07,976
them are the guts
to own upper bodies

501
00:27:08,000 --> 00:27:09,976
and with good
reason listening to you

502
00:27:10,000 --> 00:27:11,000
now

503
00:27:12,000 --> 00:27:13,976
how could you expect
it to say dad ben's

504
00:27:14,000 --> 00:27:15,680
bought the bannerman farm

505
00:27:16,000 --> 00:27:16,976
knowing that the very
name puts you in a

506
00:27:17,000 --> 00:27:18,733
rage and that you couldn't

507
00:27:19,000 --> 00:27:20,976
bear the thought
of them living there

508
00:27:21,000 --> 00:27:21,976
living there my god
they're not gonna

509
00:27:22,000 --> 00:27:23,000
live there

510
00:27:24,000 --> 00:27:24,976
and well what
about it just what the

511
00:27:25,000 --> 00:27:26,976
hell is his family
connection with that

512
00:27:27,000 --> 00:27:28,680
place anyway i don't know

513
00:27:29,000 --> 00:27:30,976
you don't know well
we're gonna find out

514
00:27:31,000 --> 00:27:31,976
won't we

515
00:27:32,000 --> 00:27:33,000
hal

516
00:27:42,000 --> 00:27:44,400
i want a word with
you oh this is dad

517
00:27:46,000 --> 00:27:46,976
what it don't come
innocent with me

518
00:27:47,000 --> 00:27:47,976
young lady why
don't you tell me your

519
00:27:48,000 --> 00:27:49,976
boyfriend here at
bought brooklyn's form

520
00:27:50,000 --> 00:27:50,976
mr royston please

521
00:27:51,000 --> 00:27:51,976
shut your mouth
you you'll keep out of

522
00:27:52,000 --> 00:27:53,120
it stop it hmm

523
00:27:54,000 --> 00:27:55,976
i knew nothing about
ben behind the farm

524
00:27:56,000 --> 00:27:56,976
until it was too
late keeping it a

525
00:27:57,000 --> 00:27:58,733
secret was my idea not his

526
00:27:59,000 --> 00:28:01,333
but why kate because
i knew this had

527
00:28:02,000 --> 00:28:03,976
happened so you
told us lies instead

528
00:28:04,000 --> 00:28:04,976
hey what were you
going to do next move

529
00:28:05,000 --> 00:28:06,976
in overnight so
he wouldn't notice

530
00:28:07,000 --> 00:28:07,976
no i mean what about
not you didn't say

531
00:28:08,000 --> 00:28:09,976
anything last night
why didn't you say

532
00:28:10,000 --> 00:28:12,333
something what
about that i know all

533
00:28:13,000 --> 00:28:13,976
there is to know

534
00:28:14,000 --> 00:28:16,400
what other lies
of your troll is they

535
00:28:18,000 --> 00:28:19,976
just stay away
from the boys i'm still

536
00:28:20,000 --> 00:28:20,976
gonna marry you

537
00:28:21,000 --> 00:28:22,440
like where you are

538
00:28:30,000 --> 00:28:31,000
[Music]

539
00:28:42,000 --> 00:28:43,000
oh

540
00:28:45,000 --> 00:28:46,000
[Music]

541
00:28:56,000 --> 00:28:57,000
me buddy

542
00:29:01,000 --> 00:29:02,000
[Music]

543
00:29:16,000 --> 00:29:18,333
buying brooklyn's
was a mistake kate

544
00:29:20,000 --> 00:29:22,467
but it can be put
right all ben has to

545
00:29:24,000 --> 00:29:24,976
do

546
00:29:25,000 --> 00:29:27,000
is to sell it oh why should he

547
00:29:29,000 --> 00:29:30,200
don't be stupid

548
00:29:32,000 --> 00:29:33,976
the bastard who owned that place

549
00:29:34,000 --> 00:29:35,680
murdered your grandfather

550
00:29:37,000 --> 00:29:39,600
my father and his
daughter damn they did

551
00:29:40,000 --> 00:29:40,976
the same for me

552
00:29:41,000 --> 00:29:42,976
that's enough does
your boyfriend know

553
00:29:43,000 --> 00:29:44,000
about that

554
00:29:48,000 --> 00:29:49,000
yes dad

555
00:29:52,000 --> 00:29:52,976
my god there's no
secrets between you

556
00:29:53,000 --> 00:29:55,267
two is it bullets
have you told him

557
00:29:57,000 --> 00:29:57,976
i didn't tell him
about you and the

558
00:29:58,000 --> 00:29:59,200
bannerman's dad

559
00:30:02,000 --> 00:30:03,200
he already knew

560
00:30:06,000 --> 00:30:07,933
because martha was his mother

561
00:30:09,000 --> 00:30:10,000
[Music]

562
00:30:13,000 --> 00:30:14,040
martha barnum

563
00:30:17,000 --> 00:30:18,120
was his mother

564
00:30:22,000 --> 00:30:23,000
oh god no

565
00:30:26,000 --> 00:30:28,533
and you didn't tell
me i didn't want to

566
00:30:29,000 --> 00:30:30,000
hurt you

567
00:30:31,000 --> 00:30:33,600
you didn't want to
hurt me when you know

568
00:30:34,000 --> 00:30:35,867
how i feel about that family

569
00:30:36,000 --> 00:30:38,133
but dad ben's not like that he's

570
00:30:39,000 --> 00:30:39,976
abandonment

571
00:30:40,000 --> 00:30:42,067
kid and if i ever see him again

572
00:30:46,000 --> 00:30:47,000
i will kill

573
00:30:57,000 --> 00:30:58,000
[Music]

574
00:31:02,000 --> 00:31:03,000
him

575
00:31:04,000 --> 00:31:05,000
[Music]

576
00:31:19,000 --> 00:31:19,976
if i don't have
him then life won't

577
00:31:20,000 --> 00:31:21,000
matter to me

578
00:31:24,000 --> 00:31:25,976
you understand what
i'm saying don't you

579
00:31:26,000 --> 00:31:27,000
mom

580
00:31:28,000 --> 00:31:29,280
yes i understand

581
00:31:32,000 --> 00:31:33,733
your heart rules your head

582
00:31:37,000 --> 00:31:38,000
but ben

583
00:31:40,000 --> 00:31:42,533
suffered more at her
hands than dad did

584
00:31:43,000 --> 00:31:45,467
she was mad she
hated him she beat him

585
00:31:47,000 --> 00:31:48,976
if only dad had
listened to him he'll

586
00:31:49,000 --> 00:31:50,440
never do that last

587
00:31:55,000 --> 00:31:56,867
i think you should go to ben

588
00:32:00,000 --> 00:32:02,600
what about dad you
just pack your things

589
00:32:03,000 --> 00:32:04,000
last

590
00:32:05,000 --> 00:32:06,600
leave your dad to me

591
00:32:15,000 --> 00:32:16,976
gabriel tell terry to
get the trap ready

592
00:32:17,000 --> 00:32:18,000
mom do it

593
00:32:29,000 --> 00:32:30,000
[Music]

594
00:32:49,000 --> 00:32:49,976
right from the start
i knew there was

595
00:32:50,000 --> 00:32:51,976
something wrong but
i come put my finger

596
00:32:52,000 --> 00:32:52,976
on it

597
00:32:53,000 --> 00:32:54,976
and there lies
those two well he's

598
00:32:55,000 --> 00:32:57,467
abandonment of
what you expect but kit

599
00:32:58,000 --> 00:32:59,976
i mean how could
she do that she told

600
00:33:00,000 --> 00:33:01,976
you she didn't want to hurt you

601
00:33:02,000 --> 00:33:03,000
oh

602
00:33:06,000 --> 00:33:07,976
and she was
frightened of you hal

603
00:33:08,000 --> 00:33:09,000
frightened

604
00:33:10,000 --> 00:33:11,360
of me i'm her dad

605
00:33:15,000 --> 00:33:17,400
ben was just as
much a victim as your

606
00:33:18,000 --> 00:33:19,000
father

607
00:33:20,000 --> 00:33:22,467

608
00:33:23,000 --> 00:33:24,440
let him marry kate

609
00:33:25,000 --> 00:33:26,976
marry kids i'll see
him in the ground

610
00:33:27,000 --> 00:33:27,976
before i let that happen

611
00:33:28,000 --> 00:33:29,680
no hal he will marry her

612
00:33:34,000 --> 00:33:36,600
they're in love they
can't get enough of

613
00:33:37,000 --> 00:33:37,976
each other

614
00:33:38,000 --> 00:33:39,976
do you remember
what that feels like of

615
00:33:40,000 --> 00:33:41,000
course i do

616
00:33:43,000 --> 00:33:44,000
kid

617
00:33:49,000 --> 00:33:50,976
huh she's going
to him and if you're

618
00:33:51,000 --> 00:33:51,976
trying to keep them
apart you'll take

619
00:33:52,000 --> 00:33:53,976
her to america like helly will

620
00:33:54,000 --> 00:33:56,467
and if they go i'll
be going with them

621
00:33:57,000 --> 00:33:58,200
no you wouldn't

622
00:34:11,000 --> 00:34:12,000
[Music]

624
00:34:22,000 --> 00:34:24,600
i told him i told him

625
00:34:26,000 --> 00:34:27,976
i tried to explain
and he wouldn't

626
00:34:28,000 --> 00:34:28,976
listen no sorry

627
00:34:29,000 --> 00:34:30,976

628
00:34:31,000 --> 00:34:32,867

629
00:34:34,000 --> 00:34:35,680

630
00:34:54,000 --> 00:34:55,280
i'm going to bed

631
00:35:00,000 --> 00:35:01,000

632
00:35:04,000 --> 00:35:05,000
[Music]

633
00:35:34,000 --> 00:35:35,000
[Music]

[Music]

635
00:35:56,000 --> 00:35:57,000
